Holiday Inn Express Review

Holiday Inn Express Kuala Lumpur City Centre Review

This pared-down version of the Holiday Inn Hotel franchise will surely be a hit to those who are looking at hotel accommodations in Kuala Lumpur that are value-for-money, but don’t sacrifice quality. Located in Downtown Kuala Lumpur’s “Golden Triangle area,” the hotel’s target market are business travelers, as well as couples and families looking for accessible accommodations in the capital.

For those worried it’s little out of the way, the nearby eats and shopping districts of Jalan Alor and Changkat Bukit Bintang can make up for it. The hotel is minutes away from the tourist-laden spots of Kuala Lumpur, as well as towering malls, such as the Berjaya Times Square and the Sungei Wang Plaza. It is also close to the monorail station for each guests’ convenient commute. There’s also a taxi bay right outside.

With its seemingly “boutique” facade, it’s easy to think that it looks like your run-of-the-mill, three-star hotel. But the hotel is no miniature from the inside nor ordinary either, with 383 contemporary rooms under its roof. Each well-appointed room features a coffee and tea making facility, a work desk and drawer, as well as full bath amenities. The hotel also features a 24-hour gym, a self-service laundry facility and a meeting room.

Each overnight stay is inclusive of a buffet breakfast; unfortunately, some improvements can be made. The food quality doesn’t compare to the ones served at the hotel’s larger counterpart, but it’s hearty nonetheless for less picky (and hungry) eaters. The buffet spread includes your typical English/American breakfast fare, plus some local Chinese and Malaysian dishes. The hotel offers a Grab & Go option for those who have no time for a sit-down breakfast.

Overall, Holiday Inn Express KLCC offers relaxing and secure accomodations to go home to at the end of the day. What it is is an “express” version of the Holiday Inn, so manage your expectations. However, it is, in no means, less, in terms of comfort and quality, than its bigger sister.
